The MTCS Individual Competence Assessment (ICA) requires you to provide a ‘Record of Work’ as evidence to support the information you have provided.
A Record of Work is a log of all the work you have completed whilst being in the industry. It is a log of proof of the hours or perhaps days you have worked in a specific job role. Many offshore workers will have the IMCA logbook, and this is the type of documentation MTCS want to see from you.
What if I don’t have my logbook?
In the absence on your logbook, you can provide your Seaman’s Discharge Book with an up-to-date Company CV/Resume. If you do not have a Company CV/Resume, then provide your own CV/Resume along with your Seaman’s Discharge Book.
Your Seaman’s Discharge Book must be signed and stamped by the ship’s administrator.
In the absence on your Seaman’s Discharge Book please provide us wit, preferably, a Company CV/Resume otherwise your own personal CV/Resume along with supporting work evidence-based documents. Examples of these include:
- dive logs
- dive check lists
- daily progress reports
These must be signed by you and dated.
Why is it important?
Your Record of Work confirms the hours you have spent offshore and the piloting hours you acquired on the types of systems you have operated.
What should my Record of Work include?
Your Record of Work should include:
- The company you worked for.
- The name of the vessel or rig you were on.
- The geographical location of the vessel, or rig and each job you worked on.
- A brief summary of each job.
- The dates you worked on each job.
- The amount of time you worked on each job.
- The cumulative total of hours – this is the total amount of hours you have operated the equipment.
- The cumulative total of days – this is the total amount of days you have worked in the industry.
If you have an IMCA Logbook or company logbook, it will include all this above information.
Each page of your logbook must be signed and dated by your Supervisor or Witness.
When you submit your work, you must include a copy of the first page of your logbook which will include your personal details.
However, in the absence of a logbook, make sure your submitted Record of Work covers all the above and is supported by your Seaman’s Discharge Book, Company CV/Resume or your own CV/Resume, and evidence-based documents.
