MTCS offers a Skills Assessor Renewal process for individuals who want to maintain their Skills Assessor qualification.
A Skills Assessor Renewal is available to individuals who have previously completed a full Skills Assessor Training course or a Skills Assessor Renewal (within the last 3 years). It enables individuals to maintain their Skills Assessor qualification without having to repeat a full Skills Assessor Training course again.
All individuals are required to meet the eligibility criteria for a Skills Assessor Renewal before they can proceed with enrolling onto the Course.
The Certificate for a qualified Skills Assessor is valid for 3 years.
Who is NOT eligible to enrol onto a Skills Assessor Renewal?
If your last Skills Assessor qualification has expired for more than 6 months, then you are required to complete Stage 2 of the Skills Assessor Course.
What is required to complete a Skills Assessor Renewal?
The Skills Assessor Renewal process requires you to provide the following:
- A witness statement completed by your manager dated within the last 12 months that confirms you are still working in the role of qualified Skills Assessor.
- This Witness statement must detail the following;
- It will require your employer to confirm they have observed you, or can confirm that you continue to:
1. Agree and review plans for assessing performance.
2. Judge evidence of performance against criteria to make an assessment decision.
3. Judge evidence of knowledge against criteria to make an assessment decision.
4. Make assessment decisions and give feedback.
- You also need to provide the names of 3 candidates that you have assessed within the last 18 months, including dates of assessment.
Blank Witness Statements templates can be obtained via your online account through the Guidance Documentation area. Alternatively the templates will be available within the Skills Assessor Renewal, which will appear on your MTCS Online Dashboard after purchase.
When should I submit my evidence?
You have 12 months from enrolling onto the Skills Assessor Renewal to submit your evidence though its a good idea to try and upload your evidence in good time before your current certificate expires allowing time for verification.
We advise leaving up to 10 working days for a verification to be completed. We aim to be well within that time frame, however in busier periods it may not be possible.
How do I start the process?
If you are ready to proceed you can contact the team at [email protected]. They will confirm whether you meet the eligibility and then provide a link to proceed to payment.
As soon as payment has been made you will gain access, and be able to upload your evidence, to the new Skills Assessor Renewal course.
